Local wealth means more than economic prosperity in cities. By adding social value to public procurement practices, money recirculates among empowered and collaborative communities, labour opportunities and conditions are improved, and the carbon footprint would be reduced. What strategies could be adopted to reach these outcomes? This workshop will revise key activities, tools and actors for understanding strategic procurement as an opportunity for the generation of local wealth rather than a technical bureaucratic process based mainly on monetary criteria.

Matthew Baqueriza-Jackson is an expert on strategic procurement with more than 12 years of experience in the field. He is currently an independent policy advisor, chair of the Greater Manchester Social Value Network (GMSVN) and representative of URBACT in the EU Urban Agenda Partnership on Responsible and Innovative Public Procurement. He is also a former Deputy Chief Executive of the Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) and helped to devise the Community Wealth Building agenda in the United Kingdom context.

In this call, we are going to talk about 'steward ownership' (in German: Responsibility), an alternative ownership structure that is gaining international recognition and popularity. Steward ownership presents an alternative to shareholder value primacy and is essential to reaching a post-growth era. This means that steward ownership ensures that companies prioritize long-term purposes over short-term profits by legally protecting the two principles of self-determination and purpose orientation.

Annina Menzi from Purpose Switzerland will explain the basics of steward ownership and together, we'll explore its fundamental aspects. You will understand the relevance and influence of ownership structures on the fundamental dynamics of entrepreneurship as well as their impact on a New Economy, towards more responsibility and purpose. Prominent pioneers such as Patagonia, Bosch, and Ecosia, as well as emerging local pioneers like Monopole or Crowd Container among many others, already operate based on these principles.

wir suchen grade motivierte Socialpreneure, die sich mit dem Megatrend Silver Society beschäftigen und Lust haben in dem Bereich neue Lösungen zu entwickeln. Und zwar..

Das VGH Intralab ist unsere Zukunftswerkstatt. In dem mehrmonatigen Weiterbildungs- und Beteiligungsformat, das wir mit unserer Innovationsentwicklungseinheit FUTUR X und der Hochschule Hannover aufgesetzt haben, tüfteln Mitarbeitende in kleinen interdisziplinären Teams an gesamtunternehmerischen Fragen. Die beste Idee wird schließlich beim Pitchfinale gekürt und vom Unternehmen gefördert. Auf ihrem Weg vom weißen Blatt bis zum Prototypen werden die Teilnehmenden von externen Coaches begleitet und erhalten eine Menge kreativmethodischen Input.

Ausgewählte Bewerber:innen erhalten die einmalige Gelegenheit, sich mit engagierten Menschen aus der Unternehmenswelt in einen intensiven Austausch zu begeben. Durch eine aufgeschlossene, motivierte und experimentierfreudige Zusammenarbeit von fünf bis sechs Personen pro Team entstehen im Learning-by-Doing innovative und ungewöhnliche Lösungen für reale Probleme aus der Versicherungswelt.
